Advocacy Session | Parents & Families | Neurodivergent Uprising
Parents & Families · 1:1 Service

You already know the system isn't working for your child.
This session is about knowing exactly what to demand from it.

IEP meetings are not designed for you to win. They are designed for the institution to stay compliant at the lowest cost. Most parents go in underprepared — not because they don't care, but because no one has ever translated the system for them.

An Advocacy Session is a focused 45-minute consultation that maps your child's specific situation against the structural tools available to you — IEP, 504, accommodations, procedural safeguards — and builds a concrete plan for what to request, how to document it, and what to do when the school says no.

This is not parent support. It is structural preparation for a meeting where the institution has the home field advantage. You deserve the same preparation they have.

We work from your child's actual situation — their current plan (or lack of one), the school's most recent response, the meeting you're preparing for, or the pattern that keeps repeating. Bring any documents you have. We start where you are.

01

Map the current plan

We review what's in place — IEP, 504, informal accommodations, or nothing — and identify the structural gaps between what exists and what the law requires.

02

Build the request

We build the specific accommodation language, evaluation requests, or procedural challenges you need — written in the institution's language so it can't be easily dismissed.

03

Prepare for the meeting

We map the likely pushback, build your response scripts, and establish clear documentation standards for every interaction with the school going forward.

Advocacy Brief

Within 48 hours of your session, you receive a written document that captures what we mapped and what to do next. Specific to your child, your school, and your situation.

  • Structural gaps identified between your child's current plan and legal entitlement
  • Specific accommodation and evaluation language ready to submit in writing
  • Meeting preparation script — what to say, what to ask, what to document
  • Pushback responses for the three most common school objections
  • Documentation standard and escalation path if the school refuses

Right fit

  • Preparing for an IEP or 504 meeting in the next 30–60 days
  • Child has an existing plan that isn't working
  • School has denied a request or stopped responding
  • Navigating a new diagnosis and don't know what to ask for
  • Feeling outprepared, outnumbered, or dismissed at meetings

Not the right fit

  • Looking for therapeutic support for your child
  • Wanting tutoring or academic coaching referrals
  • Need formal legal representation (IDEA dispute)
  • Child is not yet school-age or not enrolled

This session is structural and specific. It works best when there is an active situation — a meeting coming up, a denial to respond to, or a plan that is failing your child.
